The OnGard system consists of two parts: a tank that holds the fire suppresion agent and a flexible tube that delivers the agent to the site of the fire. Installing an OnGard unit is as simple as securing the tank near the dryer and running the tube into the area to be protected.
In the event of a fire, the heat will cause the tube to rupture, releasing the fire suppresion agent into the affected area. The tubing used by the OnGard system has been extensively tested to ensure that it is able to withstand the normal operating temperature of a dryer vent and still be able to rupture in the event of a fire.
The fire suppresion agent utilized by the OnGard system was developed by FireXonline for this application. This unique formulation is designed to penetrate hard-to-reach areas and move around obstructions better than existing fire suppresion agents.
